Title
2015 GRANT MATCH FOR ANOKA-HENNEPIN NARCOTICS AND VIOLENT CRIME TASK FORCE

Background
The Blaine Police Department has been a member of the Anoka-Hennepin Narcotics and Violent Crimes Task Force since approximately 1996.  This collaborative agreement of member agencies helps to address drugs and violent crimes in our community, as well as the communities of other member agencies.  Also, it is important for the AHNVCTF to have proper supervision and, since its inception, other agencies have supplied a supervisor to the AHNVCTF.  In late 2014 it was determined that the Blaine Police Department would take on the responsibility of supplying a supervisor to the AHNVCTF. The City of Blaine now has a Sergeant and an Officer represented in the Task Force in 2015.   Per the requirements of the grant funding, each Department represented in the Task Force must supply a cash match per Officer; this has been a long-standing requirement of the grant process. The cash match, per individual is $5,125.00; for a total of $10,250.00 for the City of Blaine.  However, each agency receives an overtime reimbursement through the grant, which assists in off-setting the cash match amount.  Pursuant to the City Charter, Sec. 6.05, staff is now requesting City Council approval for the expenditure of funds for this grant cash match.

Recommendation
By motion, Approve 2015 Grant Match Fund to the Anoka County treasurer in the amount of $10,250.00.
