RATIFICATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT LABOR SERVICES, LOCAL 165 (POLICE OFFICERS) LABOR AGREEMENT FOR 2020-2022
Background
The City of Blaine and the Law Enforcement Labor Services, Local 165 (police officers) have reached agreement on the labor contract covering the three years beginning January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2022 with the following changes:
1. Wage Adjustments of 3% for each of the years covered under the labor contract.
2. An annual increase of $50 per month per year in the city’s monthly contribution to the cafeteria plan.
3. Beginning in 2020, members of this union will accrue sick and vacation leave benefits as outlined in the city’s policy.
4. The city has agreed to increase the on-call compensation from $200 to $300 per month.
5. The city has agreed to increase the field training officer pay from $100 to $200 per month for police officers. Field training officer pay will remain at $100 per month for detectives.
6. The city has agreed to eliminate the prohibition of a field training officer and use of force or firearms instructor being eligible for only one supplementary pay despite performing both assignments.
7. Incidental technical and clean up language changes.
Recommended Council Action
By motion, ratify the contract between the Law Enforcement Labor Services, Local 165 and the City of Blaine for calendar years 2020-2022.
