AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF 16 HYDRANT METERS IN THE AMOUNT OF $34,467.36 FOR UTILILTY DEPARTMENT
Background
The 2017 Utility Fund has budgeted $34,000 to replace our existing hydrant meters with new hydrant meters with backflow preventers to meet the new codes. USA Bluebook was the vendor with the lowest price for 16 hydrant meters at $34,467.36. The other vendor who submitted a price was for over $39,000. The Utility Fund will be able to adjust its budget to account for the small overage in the budgeted amount.
These hydrant meters are used to measure the amount of water that private contractors take from our hydrants when they are working on projects in our community. It is a permit they get from City Staff; we give them a hydrant meter so we can accurately charge them for the amount of water they are using.

By motion authorize the purchase of 16 Hydrant Meters from USA Bluebook in the amount of $34,467.36
