CONSENT - Dan Schluender, City Engineer
Title
AMEND THE CONTRACT WITH GREAT RIVER GREENING FOR BLAINE WETLAND SANCTUARY RESTORATION WORK
Background
The city entered into an agreement on November 19, 2019 with Great River Greening to utilize Outdoor Heritage Funds for the restoration of the southern portion of the Blaine Wetland Sanctuary.
Restoration work at the southern portion of the Blaine Wetland Sanctuary is going slower than expected due to the warm winter and lack of frost in the ground. Because of this, the restoration work will need to resume next winter. The original plan was to have the majority of the tree removals completed by March 1, 2020. The contractor is hoping to be able to get on-site in late October-early November if weather conditions allow.
This will cause the contractor to remobilize next winter and adds costs to the project. Great River Greening has received additional state funding to help cover the costs for the remobilization. Great River Greening is requesting an amendment to the existing agreement with the city to allow for the use of an additional $15,000 in state funds from the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR).
Recommendation
By Motion, amend the contract with Great River Greening to add $15,000 in LCCMR funds to the project.
