CONSENT AGENDA - Cathy Sorensen, City Clerk
Title
APPROVE PREMISES PERMIT FOR CHARITABLE GAMBLING FOR SPRING LAKE PARK DISTRICT #16 YOUTH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION AT THE ROADSIDE RESTAURANT, 12530 ULYSSES STREET NE, BLAINE
Background
Sarah Clark, Gambling Manager for Spring Lake Park District #16 Youth Hockey Association, has submitted an application to conduct charitable gambling at The Roadside restaurant, 12530 Ulysses Street NE, Blaine. This will be youth hockey’s first site and they will be conducting paper and electronic pull tabs, sports tipboards, bingo and occasional meat raffles from this location. The current premise permit organization, the Spring Lake Park Lions will no longer hold a premise permit at this location if approved and they have been notified of the change. A copy of the signed lease is attached.
The Gambling Control Board may not issue a new premises permit for charitable gambling within a city unless a sponsoring organization obtains approval through a resolution from the City Council. A charitable gambling applicant has sixty (60) days from the date of their application to present such a resolution to the Gambling Control Board or otherwise forfeit their gambling activities.
The $250 investigation fee has been deposited with the City and the criteria set forth in Ordinance No. 88-1108 (regulating lawful gambling) has been met. An investigation has been conducted by the Blaine Police Department on the gambling activity of Spring Lake Park District #16 Youth Hockey Association and found nothing that would disqualify them from being approved.
