      WHEREAS, the Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department is the largest volunteer fire department in Anoka and Ramsey Counties and second largest in the State of Minnesota; and
 
      WHEREAS, it is the privilege of Blaine citizens to recognize the public service of Doug J. Nelson who joined the Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department on March 1990, as a volunteer firefighter; and
 
      WHEREAS, Doug was a key member of the Fire Department and during his tenure, served as Battalion Chief, community needs, grievance committee, personnel committees, fire board, held rank of Firefighter, Fire Motor Operator, Engineer, Captain, Senior Station Captain, District Chief, and
 
WHEREAS, Doug was certified at the Emergency Medicat Technician, Firefighter II, Fire Inspector II, Fire Officer II, Hazardous Material Technician, Local Hazard Zone Management, and
 
WHEREAS, Battalion Chief Doug completed numerous specialized training courses and seminars about various areas of firefighting, and
 
WHEREAS, during his years of service, Doug responded to more than 1544 fire calls and attended over 490 weekly drills.  He received several commendations in recognition of his commitment to fire protection and the community.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Blaine acknowledges, with sincere appreciation, the dedicated and loyal service of Battalion Chief Doug Nelson who retired on MONTH DAY YEAR after 23 years of service to the citizens of our City.
 
 
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Blaine to be affixed on this DATE day of MONTH YEAR.
