Title
APPROVE TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE OF TOWN SQUARE DRIVE NE FOR BLAINE ART AND MUSIC FAIR
Background
The Blaine Art and Music Fair will be held at Town Square Park on June 16, 2012, 1:00-4:00 p.m. This is a new event sponsored by the City Parks and Recreation Department and Blaine Arts Council. The event is free with a variety of fine art exhibited by members of the Blaine Arts Council and a mix of smooth jazz and island sounds provided by local musical groups. Also free refreshments will be served throughout the afternoon.
To help facilitate a safe environment for fair goers, it is proposed to close a portion of Town Square Drive in front of City Hall for the event. The closure will be from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on June 16, 2012. A detour is proposed around Town Square Park to facilitate through traffic. The Parks Department will coordinate the closure with the City's Public Works Department and Public Safety Department.
Recommendation
By motion, approve the resolution.

WHEREAS, the Blaine City Council is cognizant of providing regulation of vehicular traffic in a safe and responsible manner, and
WHEREAS, the City Ordinance requires a City Resolution authorizing the temporary closure of public roads, and
WHEREAS, the temporary closure will not adversely affect traffic safety.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Blaine City Council
1. Hereby authorizes a temporary road closure of Town Square Drive NE, from 108th Lane to the south, for Blaine Art and Music Fair between the hours of 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM, June 16, 2012.
