APPROVE A PREMISES PERMIT NAME CHANGE FOR CHARITABLE GAMBLING FOR SPRING LAKE PARK LIONS CLUB AT BANQUETS OF MINNESOTA BLAINE, 1009 109TH AVENUE NE, FORMERLY BEBOP’S SPORTS BAR

 

Background

Amanda Jackson, Gambling Manager for Spring Lake Park Lions Park Hockey, 8433 Center Drive, Spring Lake Park, MN  55434, has submitted an application to update their current premises permit to reflect the location’s name change from BeBop’s Sports Bar to Banquets of Minnesota Blaine located at 1009 109th Avenue NE.  Besides this location the Lions have two other premises permit locations, The Roadside and Gabe’s Rinkside Bar and Grill. 

 

The Gambling Control Board may not issue a premises permit for charitable gambling within a city unless a sponsoring organization obtains approval through a resolution from the City Council. A charitable gambling applicant has sixty (60) days from the date of their application to present such a resolution to the Gambling Control Board or otherwise forfeit their gambling activities.

 

BeBop’s Sports Bar has submitted the appropriate paperwork for their name change for City Council approval. 

 

Recommendation

By motion, adopt the resolution for a premises permit name change from Bebops Sports Bar to Banquet of Minnesota Blaine to allow charitable gambling be conducted by the Spring Lake Park Lions Club at 1009 109th Avenue NE, Blaine.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Spring Lake Park Lions Club, 8433 Center Drive, Spring Lake Park, MN has submitted an application for a premises permit to allow charitable gambling be conducted at Banquets of Minnesota Blaine formerly known as Bebops Sports Bar located at 1009 109th Avenue NE, Blaine.

WHEREAS, the Gambling Control Board may not issue a premises permit for charitable gambling within a city unless a sponsoring organization obtains approval through a resolution from the City Council. A charitable gambling applicant has sixty (60) days from the date of their application to present such a resolution to the Gambling Control Board or otherwise forfeit their gambling activities.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Blaine as follows:

 

The application for the premises permit for the purpose of conducting charitable gambling is hereby approved.

 

A certified copy of the resolution shall be provided to the applicant as soon as possible for submittal to the Gambling Control Board.
