DISCUSSION ON FOGERTY SIGNAGE IN CITY RIGHT OF WAY

Fogerty Ice Arena has recently requested and was granted approval to place brown directional signage on Highway #65 to help direct motorists to Fogerty Arena and the Four Seasons Curling Club. One of the requirements for placement of the brown directional signage on Highway #65 was that a similar sign needs to be placed on Clover Leaf Parkway to direct motorists to turn left onto Lincoln Street as Fogerty Arena is not visible from Clover Leaf Parkway.
City staff agreed to install signage if provided by Fogerty Arena. The sign that Fogerty provided not only directed motorists to Fogerty Arena and Four Seasons Curling Club but also listed Gabe's Rinkside on the sign. City staff stated that this did not meet the City's signage ordinance as it was advertising for a retail business in city right of way.
This item was discussed at two workshop meetings and a compromise the Council is willing to discuss was to eliminate the name Gabe's from the brown sign and just have "rinkside grill" or "restaurant" in its place.
