RESTRICTIONS ON 103^RD LANE AND NATIONAL STREET FOR CENTENNIAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL EVENT ON MAY 20, 2020 (INCLEMENT WEATHER DATE: MAY 21, 2020)

Background

The City of Blaine received a letter on January 14, 2019, from Kathy Kaiser, Principal of Centennial Elementary School, requesting the temporary removal of parking restrictions on 103^rd Lane and National Street in order to allow parking on those streets from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on May 20, 2020, with an inclement weather date of May 21, 2020.  The school is hosting their annual 5^th Grade Track and Field meet during that time period and expects a need for additional parking to accommodate observers of the event.  City Council authorization is required for the temporary lifting of parking restrictions.  Over the past several years, City Council has authorized the temporary lifting of restrictions for this and other annual events held at Centennial Elementary School.

Recommendation

By motion, authorize the temporary removal of parking restrictions on National Street and 103^rd Lane from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on May 20, 2020, with an inclement weather date of May 21, 2020.
