AUTHORIZE INSTALLATION OF REGULATORY SIGNS

Background

Installation of regulatory stop, yield and no parking signs requires authorization by City Council.  The regulatory signs proposed meet warrants established in the Minnesota Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.  Intersections are reviewed for the type of regulatory sign to install.  Stop signs are installed on street intersections with main through streets.  At inter-sections where a full stop is not necessary at all times, consideration is given to the less restrictive measure of a yield sign.

Recommendation

By motion, approve the resolution.

Body

WHEREAS, the City Council is cognizant of providing regulation of vehicular traffic in a safe and responsible manner; and

WHEREAS, City Ordinance requires a Council Resolution specifying the placement of regulatory signs; and

WHEREAS, the regulatory signs are considered to meet warrants for traffic control established in the Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Blaine that regulatory signs are hereby authorized to be installed as follows:

Ø                     Stop sign on Leyte Circle (southbound) at 129^th Avenue

Ø                     Stop sign on Zest Court (southbound) at 112^th Circle

Ø                     Stop sign on 112^th Circle (eastbound) at 112^th Avenue

Ø                     Stop sign on 112^th Avenue (eastbound) at Lexington Avenue

Ø                     Stop sign on 122^nd Avenue (westbound) at Lexington Avenue

Ø                     Stop sign on 121^st Court (westbound) at Woodland Parkway

Ø                     Stop sign on Lever Street (southbound) at 122^nd Avenue

Ø                     Stop sign on 123^rd Circle (eastbound) at Lever Street

Ø                     Stop sign on 131^st Court (eastbound) at Harpers Street

Ø                     Stop sign on 130^th Lane (westbound) at Harpers Street

Ø                     Stop sign on Harpers Street (eastbound) at 131^st Avenue
