GRANTING APPROVAL TO CONDUCT OFF-SITE GAMBLING AT CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL BEGINNING ON MAY 23, 2018 WITH THE RAFFLE DRAWING ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2018 FOR THE CENTENNIAL FOOTBALL BOOSTERS
Background
The Centennial Football Boosters have submitted an application to conduct off-site charitable gambling on May 23, 2018 with a raffle drawing on September 30, 2018 at the Centennial High School with proceeds going back to the community. The Centennial Football Boosters organization currently has a premises permit for Green Mill.
The Gambling Control Board will not issue an off-site permit for charitable gambling within a city unless the sponsoring organization obtains city approval through Council resolution; therefore, this resolution is being presented to the Council for approval.
Recommendation
By motion approve the Resolution.
Body
WHEREAS, the Centennial Football Boosters, 12317 Opal Street NE, Blaine, MN has applied for an off-site gambling permit at the Centennial High School to begin on May 23, 2018 with the raffle drawing on September 30, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 349.213, Subd. 2, states that the Gambling Control Board may not issue an off-site gambling permit within the City of Blaine unless the City Council approves the off-site permit within sixty (60) days of the date of application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Blaine as follows:
The application for the off-site gambling permit for the purpose of conducting charitable gambling is hereby approved.
A certified copy of this resolution shall be provided to the applicant as soon as possible for submittal to the Gambling Control Board.
