REQUEST MNDOT ANALYZE TRAFFIC SIGNAL TIMING ON TRUNK HIGHWAY 65 IN THE CITY OF BLAINE
Background
The City Council has had numerous complaints from residents of Blaine that they are subject to significant delays due to the traffic signal timing for local and County Roads crossing over TH 65. The Council is requesting that MnDOT analyze the signalized intersections on TH 65 to optimize signal timing to allow traffic to flow north/south on TH 65, but to also accommodate enough timing in the traffic signals to clear the east/west queuing that is occurring on all cross streets in the City of Blaine.
Recommendation
By motion, approve the resolution.
Body
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Blaine is cognizant of providing regulation of vehicular traffic in a safe and responsible manner; and
WHEREAS, MnDOT is responsible for the planning, construction and maintenance of traffic signals on the Trunk Highway system; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Blaine is receiving numerous complaints from residents of Blaine that they are subject to significant delays due to traffic signal timing for local and County Roads crossing over TH 65; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Blaine is requesting that MnDOT analyze the signalized intersections on TH 65 to optimize signal timing to allow traffic to flow north/south on TH 65, but to also accommodate enough timing in the traffic signals to clear the east/west queuing that is occurring on all cross streets in the City of Blaine.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Blaine as follows:
1. The City Council of the City of Blaine is requesting that MnDOT analyze the signalized intersections on TH 65 to optimize signal timing to allow traffic to flow north/south on TH 65, but to also accommodate enough timing in the traffic signals to clear the east/west queuing that is occurring on all cross streets in the City of Blaine.
