Title
APPROVE 2015 TOBACCO AND TOBACCO PRODUCTS LICENSE RENEWALS
Background
Staff has received the 2015 Tobacco and Tobacco Products License Renewal applications from the attached list of Blaine businesses. These licenses are renewable on January 1, 2015. Each applicant has met the licensing requirements by depositing an annual license fee of $250 with the City and by completing all necessary forms.
City Ordinance requires annual tobacco sales compliance checks. The Police Department continues to administer this section of the Code and State Statutes. Additionally, State Statutes require that the licensing authority develop alternative penalties for minors who purchase, possess and consume tobacco. Such a program has been developed and is coordinated by Anoka County with input from educators, parents, children and court representatives. Blaine actively participates with Anoka County in the alternative penalty process.
Effective January 1, 2015, cities that license the sale of electronic delivery devices must enforce the new child-resistant packaging requirements outlined in Minnesota Statute 461.20. Staff will ensure this element is incorporated with the 2015 tobacco compliance checks.

By motion, approve renewal of the 2015 Tobacco and Tobacco Products License renewals.
