CONSTITUTION WEEK
WHEREAS, our Founding Fathers, in order to secure the blessings of liberty for themselves and their posterity, did ordain and establish a Constitution for the United States; and
WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens fully understand the provisions and principles contained in the Constitution in order to effectively support, preserve and defend against all enemies; and
WHEREAS, September 17, 2014 marks the two hundred and twenty-seventh anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to officially recognize this magnificent document and the anniversary of its creation; and
WHEREAS, the independence guaranteed to American citizens, whether by birth or naturalization, should be celebrated during Constitution Week, September 17 through 23, 2014, as designated by proclamation of the President of the United States of America in accordance with Public Law 915.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Blaine City Council hereby proclaims September 17 through 23, 2014 to be Constitution Week in the City of Blaine and to ask our citizens to reaffirm the ideals of the Framers of the constitution had in 1787 by vigilantly protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us through this guardian of our liberties, remembering that lost rights may never be regained.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Blaine to be affixed on this 4th day of September 2014.
