APPROVE FINAL COST-SHARE PAYMENT TO ANOKA COUNTY FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF UNIVERSITY AVENUE (CSAH 51) BETWEEN CSAH 10 AND TH 10, S.P. 02-651-06, SAP 106-020-27, IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 05-11
Background
On March 20, 2008, the City Council approved Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) No. 2008-0505 with Anoka County detailing requirements and obligations for construction, costs and future maintenance for the reconstruction of University Avenue between CSAH 10 and TH 10. The JPA estimated the City's cost-share at $126,438.54, of which $120,116.61 was paid prior to construction. The cost for landscaping, however, was listed in the JPA as TBD (to be determined). On August 6, 2009, Council approved Supplemental Agreement No. 1for additional median costs estimated to be $37,228. Due to the additional cost for landscaping and the City receiving a smaller percentage of the County's federal funds then estimated in the JPA, the City's overall cost of the project is $193,914.41. For this reason, the final project costs exceed previous totals approved by Council, therefore the final invoice from the County in the amount of $73,797.80 is before Council for authorization to make the final payment.
Recommendation
By motion, approve final payment in the amount of $73,797.80 to Anoka County for the reconstruction of University Avenue between CSAH 10 and TH 10.
