Title
GRANTING APPROVAL TO CONDUCT OFF-SITE GAMBLING AT BROOK HALL ON MAY 7, 2016 FOR THE BLAINE FESTIVAL
Background
The Blaine Festival has submitted an application to conduct off-site charitable gambling on May 7, 2016 at Brook Hall for a pull tabs event with proceeds going back to the community. The Blaine Festival organization currently has a premises permit for Blainbrook Entertainment and Clives Roadhouse Blaine.
The Gambling Control Board will not issue an off-site permit for charitable gambling within a city unless the sponsoring organization obtains city approval through Council resolution; therefore, this resolution is being presented to the Council for approval.
Recommendation
By motion adopt the proposed Resolution.
Body
WHEREAS, the Blaine Festival, 10801 Town Square Drive NE, Blaine has applied for an off-site gambling permit at Brook Hall to be held on May 7, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 349.213, Subd. 2, states that the Gambling Control Board may not issue an off-site gambling permit within the City of Blaine unless the City Council approves the off-site permit within sixty (60) days of the date of application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Blaine as follows:
The application for the off-site gambling permit for the purpose of conducting charitable gambling is hereby approved.
A certified copy of this resolution shall be provided to the applicant as soon as possible for submittal to the Gambling Control Board.
