Title

APPROVE OF SECURITY VIDEO SURVEILLANCE EQUIPMENT FOR CITY HALL/POLICE DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $24,494.74

Background

The Police Department is in the process of upgrading its internal video surveillance equipment and the surveillance equipment in City Hall as well.  In 2015, the Police Department has budgeted $25,000 for this project, which includes a $4,500 safety grant from the State of Minnesota.

Staff from the Police Department, IS and City Hall worked with two different vendors on this project.  Because of the scope of upgrading and adding new surveillance equipment this project will need to be a multi-year project. The first part of this multi-year project is upgrading the existing surveillance system to handle full build out and changing our existing 23cameras from analog to digital.

Staff will include funds in future Capital Equipment requests to complete the project, which is estimated to be $75,000.00.  This first year will include purchasing the server, software and upgrading the existing cameras in the amount of $24,494.74.

Staff is recommending that the City Council approve of purchasing video surveillance equipment in the amount of $24,494.74.

Recommendation

By motions, approve of video surveillance equipment in the amount of $24,494.74 from Pro-Tec Design.
