Title

APPROVE CHANGE ORDER NO. 3 IN THE AMOUNT OF $36,288.45 FOR THE 2016 STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT, IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 16-07

Background

On June 2, 2016, a contract was awarded to North Valley, Inc. with a total project budget of $889,851.51 for the 2016 Street Reconstruction Project.

The City Council had ordered staff to reconfigure the end of Marmon Street north of 123rd Avenue to prevent storm water runoff from the street running onto the adjacent property.  In order to capture the savings of having a contractor already mobilized with the necessary equipment in town, this work was added to the 2016 Street Reconstruction Project as a change order.

In addition, due to unforeseen conditions on 97th Avenue, where little to no gravel was present under a significant portion of the road, the profile of the road was adjusted, causing additional driveway work and significant turf restoration beyond what was originally planned.

These two items have caused the project budget to exceed the amount originally authorized by Council.  The Finance Director confirmed that there are sufficient funds in the PMP to cover this change in total project cost.

Staff is requesting that Change Order No. 3, in the amount of $36,288.45 be authorized, amending the total project budget amount to $926,139.96.

Recommendation

By motion, approve Change Order No. 3 to the contract for Improvement Project No 16-07 in the amount of $36,288.45, amending the total project budget amount to $926,139.96 and authorizing the Public Services Manager to sign said Change Order No. 3.
