Approve Temporary Road Closure of Town Square Drive NE for Blaine World Fest

Background

World Fest is an annual event sponsored by the City Parks and Recreation Department.  To help facilitate a safe environment for festival goers, it is proposed to close a portion of Town Square Drive in front of City Hall for the event.  The closure will be from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, on September 17, 2011.  A detour is proposed around Town Square Park to facilitate through traffic.  The Parks Department will coordinate the closure with the City's Public Works Department and Public Safety Department.

Recommended Council Action

By motion, approve the Resolution.

CITY OF BLAINE

APPROVE TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE OF

TOWN SQUARE DRIVE NE FOR WORLD FEST

WHEREAS, the Blaine City Council is cognizant of providing regulation of vehicular traffic in a safe and responsible manner, and

WHEREAS, the City Ordinance requires a City Resolution authorizing the temporary closure of public roads, and

WHEREAS, the temporary closure will not adversely affect traffic safety.

      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Blaine as follows:

1.      A temporary road closure is hereby authorized to be on Town Square Drive NE, from 108^th Lane to the south, for World Fest between the hours of 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, September 17, 2011.
