Title

ENTER INTO A FIVE YEAR AGREEMENT WITH PEPSI COLA CORPORATION AS THE EXCLUSIVE BEVERAGE DISTRIBUTOR AT THE LEXINGTON ATHLETIC COMPLEX

Background

The Parks and Recreation staff had representatives from Coca Cola and Pepsi Cola corporations meet at the Lexington Athletic Complex to see the new concession stand and ask questions about what services the City of Blaine wanted in the building. Both companies put together a bid proposal for a five year agreement. Both companies offered free signage and equipment, but Pepsi offered $2 rebates on all cans and bottle cases purchased versus Coke’s $1 on every bag in the box purchased. Pepsi will supply us with 50 free cases of can soda or water and 1,000 16 ounce cups and lids each year for the next five years. Coke was only willing to supply up to 10 free products a year and only a total funding of up to $1,250 over the five years. Pepsi supplied us with two free bag in the box products for the open house and also distributes Gatorade which is the number one selling sports drink in America. Pepsi is also willing to give us credit for other products under the PEPSICO Foodservice brands.

Recommendation

Staff recommends that we enter into an agreement with Pepsi Cola as the exclusive beverage distributor at the Lexington Athletic Complex.
