Executive Summary

The City Council is asked to approve a quote from Pro-Tec Design to upgrade door access card readers as outlined.

Background

A routine building security review identified the need to upgrade door access card readers in all City facilities. This would be done to keep current with changing technology and to ensure building security by reducing potential vulnerabilities. Pro-Tec Design, the company that installed City’s current access system, provided a quote to complete this necessary upgrade. Funds were appropriated in the 2022 Facilities Fund budget approved by Council in December 2021. Staff is ready to schedule this work and is requesting approval of the quote.  As the installer of the current system, Pro-Tec Design is considered a sole-source provider, as any another system would be incompatible with the current system.

Strategic Plan Relationship

This project aligns with the Well-Maintained Infrastructure strategic priority.
