Background
Council salaries were last increased in January 2015; prior to that the last increase occurred in 2007. During the 1990s, Council salaries had been increased annually at the same percentage rate as City employees, but between 1998 and 2005 no adjustments were made to Council salaries. Council approved a five percent increase in 2014. Per Statute any salary change cannot take effect until after the next election, therefore should Council conclude upon any type of increase it would not take effect until January 2023.
