Veteran’s Memorial Park Discussion
end
Executive Summary
The Park Board toured Veteran’s Memorial Park on June 22, 2021 and would like to have a discussion about possibly contributing to the park.
Background
The Veteran’s Memorial Park has been in existence for almost two years. The Veteran’s Memorial group of Blaine has been adding amenities to the park through donations and grants. Steve Guider is leading the group along with members of Beyond the Yellow Ribbon. They are seeking additional funds to complete the Women’s monument and are also adding more flowers to beautify the park. Master gardeners from Anoka County and the City of Blaine have been volunteering to make the park look amazing.
Strategic Plan Relationship
This project meets the City’s strategic plan priority of Well-Maintained infrastructure.
Financial Impact
This project has not been identified in any budget or capital improvement plan. Staff suggests that a contribution to the park could come from the Parks Capital improvement Plan (CIP).
Staff Recommendation
Staff is seeking Park Board direction on whether or not to recommend to the City Council that an appropriation for a contribution to Veteran’s Memorial Park be placed in the 2022-2026 Parks CIP.
