Title

SPRING RETREAT - EDA AND CITY-OWNED PROPERTY LAND USE DISCUSSION

Background

There are three areas with either city-owned or EDA-owned property that staff would like to receive feedback on regarding desired land uses so the sites can be marketed accordingly. The following is information on each area.

Former K-Mart Area

The EDA owns land on each side of the multi-tenant building that was formally K-Mart. A map is attached that shows the EDA owned land, size, and existing land use of High Density Residential (HDR)/Planned Commercial (PC). This is in an identified redevelopment area in the 2040 Comprehensive Plan. Staff would like feedback on preferred uses for the east site and discuss the overall redevelopment plan for the west site.

Land in Front of City Hall

The city owns land on the south side of Town Square Drive. A map is included which shows the size and location of the land. The land was originally identified as a site for a future community center however this was not approved in a 2016 referendum vote. The city sold approximately 1.5 acres for the office building currently under construction. Because of the airport, the land cannot be used for residential purposes. Staff would like direction whether to market the site for sale or continue to hold the land for potential public use.

East Side of Highway 65, South of Highway 10

The EDA owns land on the east side of Highway 65, south of Highway 10. The property is zoned for commercial uses. Staff would like feedback on further redevelopment of the area and potential uses.

Staff will provide more thorough information via PowerPoint at the retreat.
