SEH PRESENTATION OF 129TH AVENUE TRAFFIC STUDY

Background

At their February 2, 2017 Council Workshop, the City Council discussed resident concerns on 129th Avenue from TH 65 East Service Road to Radisson Road.  Council directed that a third party consultant be hired to study the operations of 129th Avenue including the future extension of this Municipal State Aid route to Lexington Avenue.  Tom Sohrweide of SEH was selected to prepare the attached traffic study for Council’s consideration.  The City Council will be reviewing the traffic study at their June 1, 2017 Workshop.  It is anticipated that, similar to the Rice Creek Parkway traffic study, the Council will direct the Traffic Commission to review the report and make recommendations back to City Council for implementation.

Tom Sohrweide will attend the June meeting to go over the traffic report for the Traffic Commission and will be available for any questions.  The Commission can invite the neighborhood to the next Traffic Commission meeting to take public comments on the report or they can choose to go directly back to City Council with their recommendations on implementation of the study.

Recommendation

By motion, direct staff to mail notices to the neighborhood to invite them to the next Traffic Commission meeting on July 5, 2017 and after taking public comment, make a recommendation to City Council on implementation of the study.

Or

By motion, make a recommendation to City Council on implementation of the traffic study.
